There I met a neighbor who could actually play and my interest once again piqued.
There was a club in town where I used to hang out on Friday and Saturday nights
called The Jaguar (it was an all ages club). There I saw some of the coolest bands
ever......Vanilla Fudge, Blue Cheer, Iron Butterfly, The Who and a little blues band
from across the pond called The Yardbirds......HOLY SHIT!! Who was that little
guitar player squeezing shit out of his guitar like I've never heard before? Jimmy
Page!! Got to talk to him, too; nice chap, even though I didn't know who he was.
I bought every Brit blues band album I could find, so actually my formal training was
ass-backwards. I learned the British way of playing, then got into the American blues
roots.
So my main influences were guys like Peter Green, Danny Kirwin, Jeff Beck, Jeremy
Spencer, Mick Abrahams, early Eric Clapton (until he started using a Strat....blah)
Then along came an American........Leslie West! Whoa! His phrasing and vibrato
were stunning..........little did I know that in the future I would get to play with the man
and even get complimented by him (if you call getting punched in the arm and being
told you're a fucking good-ass guitar player a compliment!!! OK.....it was!!! )
I had my various bands in high school and after graduation I started a band called
Arson...........not a bad band, I wrote about 98% of the material and had Scotti
Brothers Records looking at us...BUT, it just wasn't working for me. Back in high
school I'd met a singer by the name of Dan Buck. We became good friends and had
a few bands together. He went on to form The Boyzz while I had Arson. The Boyzz
got signed to Epic Records in 1978. They were a helluva band......loud, proud,
obnoxious......my kinda band! They broke up in the early 80's and a few years and
a couple bands later the now Dirty Dan Buck and I hooked up and started a band
called The Sinners. That eventually evolved into Dirty Dan Buck and The Boyzz and
I've been there ever since.
We've done some great gigs and shared the stage with some great bands.......Ted
Nugent, Doobie Brothers, Kansas, Cheap Trick, CCR, Seether, Wishbone Ash,
Uriah Heep, Leslie West, Ratt, Savoy Brown, George Thorogood, UFO......etc.
We've also played with some great Chicago musicians as well.

CD out there for sale as well.
About the band and me.
Having been born in the 50's, I was lucky enough to see a lot of cool stuff, well
actually, I didn't realize any of it till the 60's but all the same it was still a very cool era
to be growing up in.
I started playing when I was about 9 or 10. Hearing all that "Rock 'N' Roll" on the radio
got the better of me, so I begged my parents to buy me a guitar. Damn, what a
trainwreck that was! Taking lessons bored the hell out of me, so I put it down for a
while and resumed about a year later. This time it was better, I had a great teacher
and became really inspired. Things were going well until one day we moved across
town. No friends, nothing to do except play my guitar. So being the new kid on the
new block wasn't so bad after all. .
